We’ll never know “who really killed JFK,” but at least Landis’s credible account puts to rest the Warren Commission’s lone gunman conclusion. I just wish his book hadn’t arrived just in time to inflate more distrust in our federal institutions. Terrific summary of the matter!

I was at a pep rally at Notre Dame High in West Haven when the Principal came on stage to give us the tragic news. The buses were already lined up outside for an early dismissal. I’ll never forget that moment.

I read the account about Landis in The NY Times and I’m skeptical. For one thing, the other agent who jumped on the back of the limo disagreed with this account. And, at his age, this new information based on what happened 60 years ago, and his account of why he has kept silent for all these years, sounds almost incredible. This idea that the bullet he said he uncovered from the limo somehow mysteriously bounced from one stretcher to another just doesn’t compute.

Then again, I’m open to being convinced.

I have always been skeptical of the conclusions of the Warren Report. For example, why didn’t the Warren Commission ever interview Landis, arguably an important eye witness? For years I followed the investigation by New Orleans D.A. Jim Garrison into the connections between Oswald and Clay Shaw. I’d listen as often as I could to Mort Sahl’s account of this investigation that cast serious doubts on the official report.

I’m not one who subscribes to the latest conspiracy theories but the assassinations of JFK, RFK, and MLK all led to questions when not one of the accused/convicted assassins saw a jury trial where all evidence could be out in the open.

My husband and I did a Kennedy assassination tour in Dallas this past April. We were shown every spot connected to the shooting. After seeing everything and finally where Oswald was set up to shoot, I know there’s no way that he killed Kennedy. If anything he provided the distraction shot. He wasn’t an expert shooter so being there made me realize all these years later that we really don’t know who did it. Lots of theories though!

I was in Our Lady of Victory at the time. We were lined up in the auditorium to go into church. Suddenly the nuns were huddled together then our teacher came and told us that president Kennedy was shot. I also remember her saying he was a daily communicant. Pretty sure that wasn’t true.
