This is what I would expect from a wedding in 1969! You were way ahead of us but in the same spirit. Thanks for sharing your story, -- RB

My 1969 marriage was held in the backyard of our rental in New Haven where we had been for over a year. Friends and family asked who lives here and we responded we do. We had a peace sign on the wedding cake and my father who originally refused to attend because, not without trying, we weren't getting married in a church by a priest, got drunk and chased the maid of honor in a short granny dress and sunglasses around a tree. My best man was barefoot.

We were trying to have children, which never did happen, so we thought a legal marriage would be better for them. Ironically, many years after the divorce I adopted an adult woman and walked her down the aisle as her father. That is a much longer story.

So reminiscent of my long ago wedding in Minnesota! Our photographer was a local farmer who charged $1 for every black and white’s picture whether we chose it or not.. And our reception was in my parents’ farm home - no music ☹️.

But it was great - and being it was in MN, it was a destination wedding for many.
